Pleasure boat navigation

A) Winter, closed from 1st January to 24 May and from 11 November to 31 December.

B) Canal opens to navigation:
1) -Extreme sections: the 25 March
From SAINT JEAN DE LOSNE (76 S) à BRAUX (14 Y exclue) and from MIGENNES (114/115 Y) à VENAREY (55 Y exclue) at 1.80 metre cruising depth.
Except for the section from POUILLY EN AUXOIS (1 Y) and BRAUX (14 Y) which is at 1,40 m cruising depth.

2) - Central section: 2 May from BRAUX (14 Y) à VENAREY (55 Y) included at 1,40m cruising depth.

C) Opening hours:
25 May to 28 octobre 2000 : 8 H - 12 H and 13 H - 19 H
29 Octobre to 10 November 2000 : 9 H - 12 H and 13 H - 17 H
Every Sunday, and the following holidays: Easter Monday, 8 May (Ascension), Sunday and Monday of Pentecôte and the 15 August, the following hours apply:

26 May to 22 Octobre 2000 : 9 h 00 - 12 h 00 and 13 h 00 - 18 h 00
29 octobre to 5 November 2000: 9 h 00 - 12 h 00 and 13 h 00 - 17 h 00

Closed to navigation the following days:
Easter (23 Avril), 1st May, 14 July and 1st November.

However pleasure craft and hotel barges can benift from an indivdual paying escort, if the navigation services permit, and with reserve of an agreement 15 days prior from Chef de la Subdivision concerned :
DIJON NAVIGATION (locks 76 S à 12 Y) or
TONNERRE NAVIGATION (locks 13 Y à 114/115 Y).

D)Special rules apply to the following section:
MARIGNY from lock 16 Y (VILLENEUVE SOUS CHARIGNY) to lock 55 Y (VENAREY).

Boats are taken in charge by a lock keeper for locks 16 Y to locks 55Y. The times boats can be taken in charge at the extremities is : 8 h 30 to 11 h 00 and 13 h 30 to 17 h 00. Boats can stop when they wish but must inform the lock keeper of the future departure time. Period open : 2 May to 10 November inclus.

1st January to 31 January 8 h 00 - 12 h and 13 h - 17 h 00
1st Feburary to 29 Feburary 8 h 00 - 12 h and 13 h - 17 h 30
1st May to 24 May 7 h 30 - 12 h and 13 h - 19 h 00
11 November to 31 December 8 h 00 - 12 h and 13 h - 17 h 00
Closed the Saturday and the Sunday, the 25 December and the 1st January.

Summer period

1) Hours from
25 May to 28 octobre 2000 : 6 h 30 - 12 h and 13 h - 19 h Monday to Saturday. from
29 octobre to 10 November 2000 : 6 h 30 - 12 h and 13 h - 17 h except Sundays
Sunday navigation: from
26 May to 22 octobre : 9 h 00 - 12 h 00 and 13 h 00 - 18 h 00
29 octobre to 5 November : 9 h 00 - 12 h 00 and 13 h 00 - 17 h 00
Closed : Easter (23 Avril), 1st May, 14 July and 1st November.

2) Navigation

a) - The complete canal except between locks MARIGNY ( 55 Y and 16 Y included).
6h 30 à 8 h 00 (9 h from 23 octobre to 10 November),
except Sundays and national holidays, barges should be escorted by a lock-keeper. To benefit from this service, the bargee must make a telephone request the day before navigation.

b) - Special rules for locks between MARIGNY : locks 55 Y & 16 Y included.
All commercial barges should be escorted by a lock-keeper. To benefit from this service, the bargee must make a telephone request the day before navigation.
