Market day at Pouilly en Auxois
This is a real photo of the Good'ol days. It is a very busy market
day People are walking up and down the street looking at the goods
for sale.
The small building just behind cart on the left had a special pupose,
it was the offical "scale" used to weigh products, animals
and goods. This prevented arguments about the actual weight of any
transactions.
The "Cafe du Commerce" is open, the four young ladies
standing at the door ar the waitresses. Today the cafe still exists,
but moved two buildings away.
At one time, when the canal was very busy with cargo barges, there
was 13 bars and restaurants in the town. Today there is now three
bars and two rstaurants. Times change...
