Very charming village of Cry sur Armançon has a small population
of 215. The gallo-roman road from Sens to Alesia, was the probable
reason for the begining of this village, called Criacus. Coins have
been found from 313 A.D. with the head of Constantin. An important
industry of stone and quarry developed from the 16th to 18th century.
Walk around the village to see the church, with a crypt, the old
lavoire and the round pigeon house.
On the top of the hill is the runined castle of Frioud.
The Canal & commune have made an important effort in rebuilding
and clearing the old turning point into a comfortable small port
for small hire boats.
