2026 on the Canal

The Burgundy Canal is closed to navigation from Laroche-Migennes to Saint-Jean-De-Losne from 17th November 2025 until 15th March 2026.

Stay tuned for more news about the upcoming works, which will affect navigation during 2026.

New Daytrip boat at Pouilly-en-Auxois

Since the last boat offering a tunnel trip broke down, a new boat should begin offering trips in the coming months.

Demand by the council of the Côte d'Or

The council of the Côte d'Or has demanded that the VNF (the national agency in charge of the French waterways) take responsibility for maintaining and operating the section of the canal from Veneray-lès-Laumes to Pouilly-en-Auxois.

Panthier Reservoir

The Panthier reservoir will be emptied in September 2025 for maintenance and repair work, which is estimated to take 12 months. The result will enable the reservoir to be filled to its maximum depth of 14.03 metres, impacting navigation and operations on the Saône side of the canal.

Fiber optics

Installing fibre optics along the canal to automate and monitor water levels is ongoing. March 2025
