If you are heading for the tunnel, you will have to declare your intentions and time of passage to the lock keeper. Although the port and village are very isolated, it has deep water and is an ideal place to spend time for maintenance work. There is water and a good quay on the port side.Turning 38 meter barges is very easy here. If you have never cruised through the tunnel, I really recommend that you make a halt and spend some time exploring the canal, as the technical side is very interesting to see. There is a supply of water from the Chazilly reservoir, an over flow near lock number 1 which flows to the resevoir of Panthier. What looks like a dry dock but was used to allow empty commercial barges who had too much head room to be loaded into a floating barge and then be towed through the tunnel. The old turbine house which supplied electricity for the electrical tower. In the nearby village of Creancey, there is a good supermarket. ![]() |
